Kenneth W. Fields, Jr.
Son
of B-17 pilot, J. Wallace Fields who flew in another B-17, on the same
February 22/23, 1942 mission when B-17E 41-2446 was
lost. He is a partner in Walters, Holt & Fields law firm, and visited
the wreck on at least two occasions. The author of an Warbirds International
article, "New
Guinea Fort".
Fields was also active
as an advocate for the recovery of the aircraft from 1986 - 1998, for
both Travis
Air Force Museum, and
later David Tallichet's MARC. He also
visited the bomber with Alfred Hagen. In April 2006, he was a team member of the controversial salvage, that resulted in the bomber being left at Lae dock.
