PNG Museum Authorizes Removal, Then Revolks and Curator Charged
[ 1993 ] Six years after the Travis Museum proposal was
rejected, the PNG Museum’s new curator authorized the removal
of the “Swamp Ghost”. The aircraft was
never removed, and the curator was given a public service charge and questioned.
Post Courier reported in 1993:
“There seems
to have been a question over the legitimacy of the war
museum, as
whether such a body had the lawful authority to enter into
an agreement to recover the stricken aircraft and take
it to America.”
