Rediscovery of B-17E 41-2446
During Australian Army training exercises, the bomber was rediscovered from the air by helicopter. The crew landed to investigate and reportedly discovered cigarette butts in the ash trays and even a thermos in the cockpit. All the machine guns, ammunition and instruments were intact. Word of their amazing discovery quickly spread.
