"All instruments were missing from the B-17 when I first visited it, with the sole exception of the one showing in the photos of the left panel. When I visited the wreck, the panels looked like the instruments had been removed carefully with the correct tools --- they weren't butchered-out. Someone had started to remove a control wheel, but either run out of time or needed a different tool. My impression was the latter, which again suggests the work of someone with a bit of respect for equipment, rather than just a casual souvenir-hunter."
